About

Amy McArthur, RD, LDI am a mom and Registered Dietitian. I spend much of my time taking care of two boys, Jace (10) and Cadden (8), as well as working with my children’s fitness company and counseling families and individuals on the best ways to feed their families. I truly believe that healthy habits should start at a young age and should be modeled by parents. I have worked with many clients during my 13 years as a dietitian, and I know that when you counsel adults you must “retrain” them to eat in a new way. While definately possible, it is a difficult task for some. That is why I believe that children should learn to eat in a healthy way and to be active while they are young so that they grow up thinking it is normal, not something they dread having to learn when they’re older and overweight. That is why I created this blog–to teach you how to do this with YOUR family.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Southern Mississippi.  I am registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed by the State of Mississippi.  I have experience in clinical dietetics, including inpatient, outpatient, home health, and long-term care settings.  I have also worked as a hospital food service manager and in the foodservice contract industry as a recipe and menu development and analysis specialist.  I currently own and manage a children’s fitness company, called Stretch-n-Grow.  I also counsel clients and families on a regular basis on weight management and wellness, both in person as well as via internet and/or phone.  My newest endeavor is this blog where my goal is to offer FREE advice to families on how to prepare meals and snacks that promote weight management and overall healthy living.
